Language Arts (Period 4,5,6) Assignments

Students have the remaining 2 weeks to turn in any missing work or revisions.

All MIssing work and revisions are due for the Special Progress Reports that will be mailed home. Current grade on special progress report determines eligibility for summer school.

Grade printouts signed by parent/guardian. There are only 4 weeks left of school to turn in missing work and make revisions.

Choose an item to describe using imagery (5 senses). Describe the item two times: 1 so that is appealing, and 2 so that it is repulsive (disgusting). Food works easily for this task.

Letters of Intent are due FRIDAY

Identify the tone of the poem you received in class today. Give specific examples from the text.

Follow this example:

Write a 1 stanza poem with alliteration and a 1 stanza poem with assonance.

Read 30 min. Discuss the conflict the main character has, is it an internal or an external conflict?

Finish your "Letter to Our Troops"

Read 30 min. Make 2 inferences about a minor character in your book and explain what led you to this conclusion.

Read 30 min. Make 2 personal connections to the text.

Read 30 minutes. List 3 character traits of the main character and a quote, words or actions of the character from the book that illustrate these three traits.

Read 30 min. Analyze character: How do others react to him/her? How does this facilitate your understanding of the character?

Read 3o minutes: Make 2 inferences about the main character using clues from the text.

This weeks homework is to complete all missing assignments and revisions. Students were given printouts prior to the break and on Monday November 29th. The 12 week grading period ends Friday December 3rd.

The first 6week grading period ends Friday 10/15/10. Students homework for the week is complete ALL missing assignments. Current grade printouts were given out Monday 10/11/10.

Read 30 min. Which POV is your book written from? Give an example.

How would the story be different if the setting were changed? Could the events in take place in a different setting? Give an example why/why not?

Homework over the weekend in to complete any missing assignments. Grade printouts were sent home on Thursday for Social Studies and Language Arts.

Students must read 30 min. daily and respond to prompt in Reading Log:What is your favorite book? Describe the setting. Describe the main character in 3 words.
