Advanced Modern World History (Period 7)
Assignment Calendar
Course Description
This is a rigorous class designed to prepare students for A.P. World History their sophomore year of high school. As such it involves more reading, homework, and writing assignments than the regular Modern World History class.
Class time is spent on high level discussions of the standards, connecting learning, and looking at outside sources that shed light on the material in the textbook.
Students that do not maintain a B average will be dropped from the Advanced course and enrolled in the regular Modern World History course.
AREA OF STUDY
Students study a wide range of events, peoples, and movements including:
1. The ancient world
2. American Revolution and the Enlightenment
3. French Revolution and Napoleon
4. Industrialization and Nationalism
5. Democracy
6. Imperialism
7. Modernizing China and Japan
8. World War I
9. Nazi Germany
10. World War II
11. The Cold War
12. Contemporary Western World
13. Latin America
14. African and the Middle East
15. Asia and the Pacific
