Board of Directors Member Recruitment

At this time, the Board of Directors is recruiting one new parent member to the Board of Directors. As per the Board bylaws, one new member must be a parent representative.
Board members support the mission of The O’Farrell Charter Schools and ensure budgets, policies and practices are aligned to this mission through their governance role. The Board of Directors seeks to recruit members with the following characteristics:
- Will inspire students
- Are connected to the local community
- Have relevant professional and educational experience
- Represent the diversity of The O’Farrell Charter Schools.
The Board will review applications of interested candidates and will conduct interviews in open session at its January or February meeting, pending qualified candidates. As per our charter, and applicable laws, the Board of Directors self selects its members through an open and transparent process. The O’Farrell and Ingenuity Charter Petitions state the following:
"The board is responsible for the policies, annual budgets, and hiring and evaluation of the superintendent. Either the board chair or majority of the board may direct the superintendent to analyze, review, and/or summarize the educational program, operations, and/or related matter. The superintendent oversees the educational program, including, but not limited to, staffing, curriculum, and compliance with the charter and applicable laws. In compliance with the Political Reform Act, a conflict of interest code has been adopted and Form 700 documents completed annually."
