Greetings!

 

My name is Mercedes Tyler, some students may refer to me as Coach Tyler because of my background in PE and sports.  This year I will be serving as a Student Advocate working specifically with 7th Graders. As a Student Advocate, I will help students navigate their social emotional health, their behavior and their academics. I am extremely excited and proud to work in this community; as I  too attended O'Farrell as a middle school student. I look forward to inspiring and building meaningful relationships with all my students, and contributing to their overall success at O'Farrell.

 

I graduated with a BA from CSU Sacramento. I have worked in education for seven years; six of those years have been here at O'Farrell. I have coached many sports at O'Farrell, currently I coach Girls Varsity Basketball and Varsity Track & Field at the High School. During the summer, I teach a beginners basketball course through the dive program also at the High School.

 

My hobbies include sports (playing, spectating and coaching) and creative writing. I currently play and coach football. I play Semi- Pro Women's Football and I coach High School Varsity and Freshmen football. I have been playing football for seven years and this will be my fourth year coaching. I enjoy watching NFL and College football. When I am not engaged in sports, I spend my free time writing.
